Small Adjustments Lead to Major Impacts

Better performing businesses run like a well-tuned machine.  Each gear and each cog interact harmoniously, keeping the enterprise moving forward. One faulty process will hinder the entire operation. Any misalignment can cause prized employee defections, a loss of competitive advantage, missed revenue opportunities and more.

John and Brian have seen the effects of misalignment from the selling and managing side for the last 50 years combined. They found themselves constantly struggling with these issues. In their past positions, they experienced a lack of alignment between departments, inconsistent hiring, onboarding and training, management in place of leadership and unrealistic goals. They both realized that businesses are constantly not achieving their stated objectives as well as experiencing constant turnover within their staff.

Proving their hypothesis, they uncovered a large number of statistics, with 7 being the most alarming:

  • The average cost of a low-performing sales manager is $3.5 million in lost revenue—per manager
  • The average sales turnover rate is 35%, compared to an average turnover rate for all industries of 13%.
  • 42% of sales reps feel they did not have enough information before making a call
  • 48% of sales calls end without an attempt to close the sale, and the national sales closing rate is 27%.
  • 44% of salespeople give up after one follow-up call
  • Only 3% of buyers trust sales reps. (The only professions with less credibility include car sales, politics, and lobbying.)
  • 82% of B2B decision-makers think sales reps are unprepared.

While the two were on a call one day, they decided that if they wanted anything to change, they were going to have to do something themselves.  And thus, One Broken Cog was born!

At One Broken Cog, we enable businesses to align inter-departmentally and fix the issues that hinder growth, such as loss of revenue due to employee turnover and bad reviews.
